LETTERS
TO MOTHER EARTH
The Earth Foundation invites in numerous countries selected publishers to unite in an intriguing literary project: only one publisher per country.
They assign an author to write a letter or choose a fragment form their oeuvre.
The publisher translates (if necessary) the contribution in English, sends it to the foundation and will receive the complete collection of letters/fragments in return.
The publisher has the exclusive right to distribute the book on April 22, 2024, International Earth Day. We intend to publish a new edition each year.
THE PROJECT
Our art-Book
The Earth Foundation in the Netherlands initiated earlier a similar art experiment. 1001 visual artists from 90 countries created art in which they expressed their feelings for our environment. These works appeared in a monumental art book titled '1001 Reasons to Love the Earth'. It proved to be a remarkable book, reinforcing the expectation that the concept of 'Letters to Mother Earth' will exceed this result.
A selection of these works will be published next to each Letter to Mother Earth, which brings about an attractive and inspiring combination of literary and visual art.
The late Mr. Kofi Annan, former secretary-general of the United Nations, endorsed this publication, which also received acclaim from numerous environmental organizations.
